Soeun Know is a film and game composer whose music draws on her classical roots while exploring emotion with sensitivity. Orchestral in style and shaped by years of training in harmony, orchestration, and melody, her work is known for its natural flow and memorable themes. She aims to create music that connects with audiences and supports visual storytelling through a close dialogue between sound and image. She is working toward a career in independent film and game scoring and values close collaboration with directors and game creators to write music that belongs fully to each story and brings each one to life with emotional depth.
Soeun’s career began in Korea, where she worked extensively with MODOOFIND, a production music library company. There, she composed background music for diverse programs broadcast by major Korean television networks, including variety shows such as I Live Alone (MBC), Omniscient Interfering View (MBC), and King of Mask Singer (MBC), as well as the drama The Elegant Empire (KBS2), the news program News Line W (KBS1), and the long-running documentary series Hometown Report (KBS1). These experiences demonstrate her versatility and establish her as an adaptable composer across diverse media scoring projects.
She also served as the principal arranger for the Western Symphony Orchestra, arranging dozens of works across classical, musical theatre, jazz, pop, K-pop, and country, while also performing as a pianist with the orchestra. Working closely with professional musicians and hearing her arrangements brought to life in orchestra performances greatly enriched her understanding of orchestral writing and strengthened her collaborative approach as a composer and arranger.
Currently, Soeun is pursuing her M.M. in Music for New Media at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, developing her own voice in film and game scoring. She previously earned B.M. degrees in Classical Composition and Piano Performance at Ewha Womans University, studying composition with Professor Eunhye Park and piano with Professors Sangil Han and Yerim Lee. To further her studies in composition, she also completed an M.M. in Classical Composition at Ewha.
